It’s Friday, and you know what that means. And if you don’t, it means that we’re sharing a few of the stories that really clicked with us this week. It’s also Inauguration Day, and we’re honored that you took a moment to step away from the live broadcasts to read our blog. We promise it’ll be worth your time.

Gone but not forgotten. [And also not totally gone.] 

Earlier this week, Vine was shut down, but Vine lovers need not fret. The Vine app is now going by a new name–Vine Camera–and it will allow users to create longer video content. This is a big move for Vine, who’s well-known for their 6 second videos. Get the scoop here.

What a scam!

Think you’re too tech savvy to fall for an email scam? Think again. Hackers have launched a new Gmail scam that’s tricking even the savviest of techies. Here are a few of the scary deets:

Hackers who have breached someone’s email account look through the emails in it for correspondence containing attachments. They then send emails from the compromised account — impersonating the account’s owner — with each email leveraging similarities to prior correspondence, so as to make the new messages seem legitimate and familiar. For example, the phishing emails may use a subject line that was used in the past.

Spooky, right? Beware, be careful.

Before even reading the article, we said, “Uh…duh.” The article goes on to say just as much, noting the fact that, although people are watching the game on TV, they’re also multi-tasking and scrolling through their phones (hooked to our smart phones, remember?)
